OTTAWA 67S "ADOPT A SCHOOL" PROGRAM

67Ottawa 67s Adopt-A-School Program

We were very fortunate last year to be part of the Ottawa 67s “Adopt-a-School” program.  This program provides season tickets to Ottawa 67s hockey games to schools.  Each school is sponsored by a local business.  It is these businesses that provide the schools with their tickets and we are very grateful to them.  This past year, Dunlop Public School was adopted by Ottawa Region Media.  They are proud to support the education, achievements, and contributions of young people in our community.

Over the course of last season, we handed out 11 tickets per home game.  These tickets were given out to deserving students based on our Community of Character traits.  You can read more about these traits on our Community of Character page.

We thank Ottawa Region Media for the support of Dunlop Public School.  Check back for further information on the Adopt-a-School program for 2010/2011.

Ontario introduces "Elementary Progress Reports" this year

Starting this September,
Ontario schools will stop issuing fall report cards to elementary school pupils. Instead, parents will receive a largely anecdotal "Elementary Progress Report"
that will indicate progress rather than grades.

Teachers will use the following letter symbols to report on students’ development of the six learning skills and work habits:

E – Excellent, G – Good, S – Satisfactory and N – Needs Improvement

Teachers will use the Elementary Progress Report Card to inform parents of the progress students are making towards achievement of the curriculum expectations for each subject or strand. Teachers will check one of the following to indicate progress:

Progressing With Difficulty, Progressing Well and Progressing Very Well

Teachers in Ontario have pushed for years to get rid of the report cards, which are usually issued in late October or early November, saying they come too soon after the start of the school year.
